A Single Mother’s Story About The Kindness Of Others

This is Danielle. Several years ago, Danielle was a single mom running her own daycare. Times were tough, and she needed the money. That’s when her clients banded together, sat her down, and did something that Danielle couldn’t believe. Here’s her story.

Transcript:

I was a single mom just trying to get by with a young toddler and I was running my own daycare business. I had just a few clients, only about two or three children I was looking after at the time. And things were tight, the budget was tough, and I also just remember being tired all the time. I had never really talked with my clients specifically about what was going on in my life, but they could pretty much guess what was going on. It was a difficult split up with my son’s father. So the clients got together one day and asked for us all to get together for a meeting, and at first I actually thought that it might be some bad news coming my way and they had bagels set out and everything, and I thought well they’re doing a good job creating a nice atmosphere before they land whatever bad news they have for me. I thought maybe people were moving, or maybe I was getting fired. My mind was racing with all these ideas with what could possibly be going on. And then they sat me down and said, well, we thought that we would start paying you more. And, you know, to offer to pay more for a service just blew me away and was very touching. I don’t know, I guess I still might be where I am today, but they sure made it easier along the way.
